The Product

Inquiry is built around the Spiral of Inquiry, which at its core aims to involve learners, their families, and communities in inquiry. Our app builds on these core concepts by providing a simple yet powerful interface to the researcher.

After an inquiry vision has been outlined, the inquiry begins. An inquiry is comprised of many phases (scanning, hunching etc), and extended with tags and standardised data. Inquiries evolve organically, but crucially its structure is maintained throughout. This structure provides a foundation for powerful data analysis upon which the community can make reasoned, qualified decisions about its future.

With branching, Inquiry becomes relatable. Take an existing inquiry in a completely new direction, or simply explore a related concept in a separate inquiry, in a single click. Use inquiry branching to create a whole new view of your inquiry ecosystem.

Review

Inquiry reviews are now ongoing, easy to follow conversations. No more digging though disparate documents at the end of term or assigning one SLT member as the go-to. With the Inquiry app, many reviewers contribute small and often, helping to create a strong feedback culture that drives up engagement and quality.

Inquiry is, at its core, about learning, exploring and extending. With our app researchers can collaborate with any number of participants, invite others or leave an inquiry at any time. Researchers can collaborate with people in their school and within a wider cluster or CoL, creating inquiries with any number of participants, in any area of research.

A researcher's work is important so we ensure their work stays with them regardless of how large or small their contribution to an inquiry may be. Creating a permanent record of their involvement can assist with aligning individual achievements within the inquiry space with a professional growth cycle.

Branching Out

Inquiries have a habit of changing direction as they evolve, so we’ve created branching. This powerful tool lets researchers branch into new related pathways, yet retains the ability to trace an inquiry back to its roots. Inquiries like trees grow to form many branches, each reaching new heights and pushing outward to compliment the whole.

Continuous Review

Reviews have evolved to become continuous. Simply select the inquiry you would like to review and provide feedback, ask questions or even throw in a curve ball. Review no longer needs to involve digging though disparate documents or be a one-on-one activity. With the Inquiry app many reviewers can participate in an ongoing, easy to follow conversation.

Discover which areas of research are the most dynamic (and which are not), and quickly establish if research trends align with your learning goals. Gain wider insights such as how the school calendar impacts inquiry development, or narrow the focus to identify researchers who are in need of a little assistance.

Inquiries can be exported directly to PDF and automatically uploaded to cloud storage services such as Google Drive, Dropbox and more.

Your Community

Inquiry is designed with communities of learning in mind and was developed in conjunction with the Kōtuitui CoL in West Auckland. Inquiry is a cloud-based platform which can be deployed to service a single school, multiple schools within a cluster or CoL, or simply for a group of like minded, geographically disparate schools. Because the app is cloud-based it is accessible from everywhere, in school and at home which means researchers can dive in whenever inspiration strikes.

The true power of Inquiry is the ongoing ability to identify learning requirements, positively affect educational outcomes, and drive forward engagement with the wider community.

Getting Started

We understand that different schools, clusters and CoL’s have preferred methods for Inquiry, which is why we’ve made our app customisable. Create your own set of workstreams (or go right ahead and call workstreams something entirely different), create your own set of tags for Inquiry and toggle availability as your community evolves.

We can also implement specific features for your learning environment, adding extensions or integrations to meet your needs.
